Very Sad Weekend
It’s been a really rough couple of days for me and my family this weekend. We lost Phoebe, the sweetest, most precious dog known to man whose been the love of our lives for the past 7 years.
Phoebe went in for a routine dental cleaning and died from an overdose of anesthesia. Just like that… a perfectly healthy dog stops breathing because some incompetent vet technician lacked the skills to properly monitor her, a dog the same vet claimed was in ‘100% perfect health’ just a week before. Malpractice or fate, whatever this is, it’s been so painfully heartbreaking and such a shock to all of us.
For those of you with dogs, I would urge all of you to look into anesthesia-free alternatives to teeth cleaning. The number of dogs dying from overdose of anesthesia is 1 in 400. I only wish the vet had informed my mother of these terrifying risks before Phoebe went in for the procedure. It’s such a tragedy when you lose something you love so much like this. Please take this seriously and spread the word.
Phoebe, I’ll miss you so much and will never forget all the wonderful things that made you such a bundle of joy: the smiles you brought to so many faces, all your nose kisses and snuggles, your sweet face, your playfulness, your unconditional love and cute little tooshie… I could go on forever. Rest in peace now, poofie lou, and know that I’ll be loving you forever.
