These 8x10 vintage dictionary prints are a great (and very inexpensive) idea for someone like Julie who’s interested in putting together a jazzy wall collage.
I picked these random ones from 1963 Vintage Lane’s shop, but you can find them all over Etsy for $5-$8 with every kind of illustration imaginable (hot air balloons, elephants, sea shells, pirate ships, you name it). Just type ‘vintage dictionary print’ in the Etsy search field and browse away!
Aren’t these fun?
At last the finished (and symmetric) product!
Photos are from Hong Kong, Havana, Shanghai and Guangdong, China.
Finally got around to hanging our international photograph collage in the living room!
What do y’all think?
And while we’re on the topic of decorating, look at the fun headboard that Kate, my incredibly-crafty roommate, made a couple weeks ago! It was so easy and took her maybe an hour and a half to put together from start to finish. Looks great, right?
I’d wait for her post this herself, but she’s been TERRIBLE about blogging recently. Will yall do me a favor and tell her she should get back on the Tumblr train? She won’t hear it from me. S’il vous plait?
Check out my newest purchase - a vintage gold filigree mirrored vanity tray!
My dresser was looking quite lackluster and this adds the perfect touch. I know it’s random, but I really love it. And for $10 on Ebay, I love it even more.
Framed Vintage Bingo Cards
Back in October, Kate posted about these vintage bingo cards she framed and hung in her room. My mother absolutely loved the idea, so when Hanukkah came around this year, I decided I would frame three for her. Here’s one of them (sorry for the low-quality pic). Click through to see all three. Neat idea, huh?
Polo Ralph Lauren stores are always so well decorated. I want their decorator to come redesign my home and make it perfect.
Picture taken at Worth Avenue PRL in Palm Beach.
Over Thanksgiving I posted about my Aunt Carol’s lovely home decor ideas. She sent me a few pictures of her Christmas Eve dinner table - doesn’t it look gorgeous? Like right out of a Pottery Barn catalog?
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
Gotta give my dad props for putting this all together on his own. He ventured out to a vineyard, negotiated buying a barrel for $100, put a circular glass top on it (from an older table), found four leather ‘cocktail’ chairs and voila! He’s also started collecting corks between the barrel and the tabletop. Neat, huh?
Charming holiday decorating touch from a Jewish girl’s perspective: classic Christmas books on the coffee table. Love this.
Kate decorated our apartment and posted these cute pics. Doesn’t it look pretty?

Even though I’m Jewish, I love EVERYTHING about Christmas!!!
This morning I went to the Pottery Barn Decorating & Entertaining Class with my mom, Aunt and a few family girlfriends. They always have the best tips and ideas and make me want EVERYTHING in the store. There’s another class on Dec 6th, if you’re interested.
If only I had unlimited money to spend on decorating my home and giving gifts and hosting lavish dinner parties - one day, one day I will…
Pumpkin Purée Can Flower Pot
Another example of my aunt’s creative and subtle seasonal decor.
I can only hope that someday I’ll have a home decorating talent like my Aunt Carol. This photo just doesn’t do it justice - her Thanksgiving table was breathtaking. The whole house too. I’ll snap some more pictures.
I love it when there are strategically-placed seasonal accents in unexpected places around people’s homes. You turn and you’re like wait, those flowers are in an old pumpkin puree can, or that’s a gorgeous ceramic turkey, and little touches like seasonal towels and room fragrance sprays. Nothing hokey or in your face, just simple holiday spirit.
Taking notes…
